Nike Volcanix

I designed a new concept for Nike inspired by one of Earths most powerful natural phenomena; volcanic eruptions.

My patterns and textures drew influence from iconic volcanic sites such as Mount Kilauea in Hawaii, volcanoes in Mexico, the Mayon Volcano in the Philippines, and El Salvador regions known for their intense volcanic activity.

The result was a series of limited-edition sneakers featuring bold lava-inspired designs and tropical motifs. For this collection, I reimagined some of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes, including the Air Max, Air Jordan Retro 1s, Air Jordan 5s, and Air Jordan 4 Retros.

After establishing the visual identity of the VOLCANIX line, I moved into refining the material direction and translating each volcanic inspiration into wearable, production-ready designs. This phase involved experimenting with heat-mapped gradients, molten-rock textures, and volcanic glass–inspired detailing to ensure the final concepts felt both premium and true to Nike’s performance heritage.

I also explored packaging concepts, campaign visuals, and storytelling angles that tied the collection back to its geological roots. Working with cross-functional teams, I helped shape how the collection could be positioned—whether as a limited seasonal release, a regional drop, or a global specialty line—ensuring the concept aligned with Nike’s audience, brand values, and cultural impact.
